Temporary hair dye - help, please! :-)

I would like to dye my hair black using the most temporary dye possible. I have long dark brown hair which I'm rather precious about, it's in a good condition, and whilst I've never used hair dye before, I tend to be quite good at anything hair related.
Now, I have the sort of job where I need to look smart and professional all the time, so walking around with stupid hair is not an option... ie. managing to wash out part of the hair dye but not all of it, so I have silly two tone hair!!
Can someone give me some advice? Can you even buy hair dye where the colour only lasts for a few washes? Any suggestions would be really appreciated.

I have long dark hair also and I will never again use a permenant hair dye. They are generally smelly and leave a nice straight line as they grow out. Tone on tone colorants with a 6 week colour expectancy are the best I'v found.
try Garnier Movida but go for 'Darkest Brown' if you can find it. Very nearly black but better results as it starts to wash out. Keeps in line with your skintone more and doesn't look as patently fake. Covers grey! I get away with using every 2 months or so. Best of luck:j0 -
A semi permanent colour is the closest you can get to black without going for permanent. The further away your natural hair colour from your desired hair colour, the more permanent, i.e. stronger, you need the dye to be. What about Lush? They have Les Cacas, which are entirely natural and leaves your hair in better condition than before because of the Henna. Caca Noir would be the one you'd be looking for. I've never used it, but Caca Rouge is excellent0

I have just had highlights and lowlights (blonde and red) done, but i now have an interview and need to tone it down temporarily. If I use temporary hair dye will it wash out leaving the colour I have just had done? Can anybody help please?0

Sally.1 - no it won't
your bleached hair will absorbe the colour you put on!
you could wear a hat or a wig, but don't put dye anywhere near your hair!!!0 -
directions hair dye is semi perminent and is freely available at most shops which sell goth type fashion and acessories and is also very easy to buy online. S0

Why tone it down for the interveiw ? Your highlights sounds lovely, and unless you look very strange I would just go for the interveiw as you are. After all, is it you they are interviewing, and you take time and trouble with your hair - that sounds like a plus to me.
Unless you had it done in a very wild/strange/slightly mad way?
Good luck with the interveiw anyway....0
