I need help buying a hd ready lcd tv

I want to buy my husband a tv for his birthday. How easy I thought it would be!!Each time I come across one on here or hotukdeals I think this is a good one but then different people post only any good as a bedroom tv or it should be 1080i:eek:what is it all about?
I know he wants a huge 40" or 42" lcd with freeview hd ready and that's about where my knowledge ends!
Can anyone help I probably haven't posted this in the correct thread so please feel free to move it if it's in the wrong place.

  • Still need help!!
I've narrowed my search down now to a Samsung LE40M87BDX am I ok with this one?I think it ticks all the boxes but I really don't have a clue and why do televisions differ so much in price this one ranges from about £750 up to £1100!!
  • If he's anything like me, he's probably already got an idea of what he'd like.

Given that its such a lot of cash, why not give him a budget and let him choose. It takes the pressure off you to get it right and he gets exactly what he wants.

I'd be VERY happy if my wife did that for me!

We bought, after recommendation on here, a 32'' Panasonic LXD70 Viera with integrated freeview and it's great. Check out offeroftheday I'm sure they do 42'' too. HTH

  • Thanks I've just ordered the samsung one I mentioned with a stand, delivered for £825 from dabs so hopefully the quidco will track too!
Now we just need a new house with a bigger lounge to fit the tv in!
    Thanks for your help.
