I went to pick my freebie up at the Postal Depot today but after a long search they could not find it, the date on the card I had which was put through my door on MONDAY had todays date on it and not MONDAY's date as it should have been, this rather confused the postie robots and left them with a puzzled look on their faces - I was not the only one who didn't get their mail, one person before me in the queue had the same problem - mail unlocated and the reason given ..... IT MUST STILL BE IN THE SYSTEM. This is our great Royal Mail who give you a card to pick up undelivered mail but only after 24 hours from the date of non-delivery, seemingly if you leave it 48 hours it disappears back into the system ... or down a big black hole ... or into outer space ... who knows, after all it's only Royal Mail. :rotfl:0

It's really hard to compain to Royal Mail -- they seem to be totally unaccountable. About six weeks ago the postwoman tried to deliver some lightbulbs to my home. I was out so she put a red card through the door. Via the Royal Mail website I requested redelivery the following Monday.
Nothing happened on the Monday. On Tuesday, I asked the postwoman and she said she remembered the parcel perfectly, told me it was light bulbs (freebees!) and said she would look for the parcel. Nothing happened and when I saw her later in the week, she said she couldn't find the parcel. So I telephoned the delivery office and they said they would look for it. I telephoned twice and each time got the same response. They gave me the number of the post office but when I telephoned there, they were very upset that I had been given the telephone number, refused to go and look for the parcel, and told me to telephone the delivery office, which I did, again to no avail. At no point did anyone come back to me to say that the parcel had been lost and at no point was I offered an apology, indeed, I was given the distinct impression that my telephone calls were a nuisance.
When I was finally able to go to the post office myself, it was beyond the three week period and they refused even to go and see if the parcel was there. I explained what had happened and explained that I had been unable to come to the post office before, which was why I had requested redelivery and why I had telephoned so many times, but the woman at the post office was blunt to the point of rudeness. She was unable or unwilling to give me an address to which I could write, unable or unwilling to offer me an e-mail address, unable or unwilling to give me an 01 or 02 number to telephone and simply told me to phone an 0845 number. I am all too aware that telephoning that number raises revenue for Royal Mail at my expense and I was not willing to expend more time or money on finding my parcel, especially as the number she gave me was the delivery office which I had already telephoned several times to no avail.
I can only assume that someone saw the parcel, saw that it was lightbulbs, presumed I would not bother to chase it up and took the parcel.
I am extremely unhappy at the service I have received, at the lack of courtesy I have met with (except for the postwoman, who is brilliant), and extremely unhappy that a request for redelivery via the website was not fulfilled and does not seem to have been logged as unfulfilled. I have entirely lost faith in what I had originally thought was an excellent service, ie the request for redelivery via the website, and am now very anxious about ordering anything which is sent via the post as opposed to couriers. There seems to be no accountability at all and that I find very worrying indeed. I suppose I should only be grateful that I have only lost lightbulbs.
Does anyone know what checks there are on redelivery requests? And where can I send the suggestion that if a parcel is lost after a red card is given to a customer, the very least that should happen is an acknowledgement and an apology? Is this something Martin can take up? In my case it was only free lightbubs, but it could have been far more important.0 -

Hi all, still awaiting my redelivery! so angry , the number on the card isnt answered when it eventually was someone lifted receiver and pressed random buttons, not even replying, so I whistled down phone and yelled your getting reported! How do you report Royal Mail? I aint going for packages whatever they are, I aint doing the job they are PAID to do!. My skin care gift set I ordered is being resent from skin care company recorded delivery. (its boxed and not a package) So annoying!I love this place :j:T:j0
