I forgot to say thanks to TallGirl for the Coral codes. I don't know much about the Coral games (it's different to Matched betting but still get free money) but will investigate further.
I'm assuming it's still minimal risk: I wouldn't want to go down a slippery slope of risking more than, say, 50p! ;)

And with my new found confidence I'm going to set a target of £1000 from MB by the end of the year.
I did these yesterday and it's simple and risk free. The first 2 bonuses were released and withdrawable within about 10 minutes (£10 deposit, nearly £30 withdrawable). The Deal or No Deal game bonus takes a bit longer (probably a couple of hours of play) and is a minimal risk game - I'm about half way through the number of games required to release the bonus and am currently £13 up just from playing the game.
  • I've got a lot on today, so no MB for me today, but will follow your suggestions tonight. Feel free to post useful links (I'm enjoying catching up with your diaries), but I'm a complete Luddite, and can only just about post replies, no idea how to post links yet!

I'm going to just do the Betfair challenge no.1 ATM, i.e. back bet/ lay bet/ bet in play and leave no.2 for a while as I don't feel comfortable with the casino/ poker etc. yet. Just taking things at my pace (slowly!).

It's gloriously sunny here today: I'm off to walk the dog before work. Catch up with you later.

Life balance! I like it! Good for you, LB.

Plus, thanks to TG and DP for posting - I *must* try to do these tonight.

Just on the Betfair challenge, obviously if you back there you have to lay somewhere else, and Betdaq may be a good place to do this - it's a betting exchange like Betfair but a bit more clunky. There is a current offer from 'Antepost' Magazine there for a £25 bonus after betting £25 at evens or greater, the deposit code is AnteB07 (zero seven). The offer comes from the inside front cover of the mag, which you can get by signing up to an offer via Betrescue.com.

The games and poker parts of the challenge are easy enough but take a little nerve. I think you can back all hands at the start of a game of exchange poker (this is not real poker) for minimal losses, and you can play on a very small stakes table in the real poker and fold immediately. They are easy enough to do, the real poker is probably the hardest for the novice though, but there are some free tables for practise which you can use to see how the game works.

    2. I am also using a dormant current account, rather than my main bank account as I didn't want lots of gambling transactions showing up, just in case I ever need to show my statement to anyone.

    Been there! :rotfl:

I had to give my bank statement to work for my expenses and it had transactions from Betfair, Coral, Sportingbet, BetUK & Unibet! lol Although credits exceeded debits for those transactions!! :D

I will give you a bit of advice too, although I am sure Tim has already said this.

Start with the smaller offers so that any errors you may make while learning will not be expensive ones. Take on the bigger offers when your knowledge, bank and confidence grows. Also, try to do SR bets first as this builds your bank up quicker.

Good luck and you will make your £1,000 easy.
  • Good advice from UKBob because things didn't totally go to plan last night...

First the good news: the matched bets I checked out with Tim worked perfectly, same numbers as I posted yesterday giving a £19.87 profit with the free bets. No problems there:

But I came a bit unstuck on my Betfair challenge. One of the things you have to do is place a bet in-play (i.e. when the match is on), and feeling confident about the numbers side of things I thought I'd go it alone and looked for similar odds at Coral/ Betfair to place/ lay a bet. I only thought about this 15 mins before the end of the match ( I think this was my big mistake).

Everton v Tottenham looked pretty good but the odds kept changing, so hard to place the bet and lay simultaneously. Eventually managed to lay bet at Betfair, but not matched initially so whizzed across to Coral to place bet: market suspended aaagh!(i.e. they wouldn't take any more bets). Went back to Betfair to cancel unmatched bet (you can only do this if UNmatched): by this time it was matched so couldn't cancel.
This must be absolutely terrifying if you're using large sums, but in the event I lost just over £3.00. Really annoyed with myself, as my profit from the challenge will now only be £7.00.

I thought I'd read somewhere it's good to do this at the end of a match, but it didn't work for me!

To cheer myself up I then did the CHIP (£9.50), NINE(9.50) and NODEAL (£31.30) coral games so finished the evening up after all. As TG said CHIP/ NINE take 5 mins, NODEAL should be renamed NOBRAIN left: took nearly 2 hours to do!

My profit so far is £81.08 plus £50.00 Quidco: £131.08 in less than a week: Withdrew £92.00 from Coral to my mortgage "pot";fab!

Hopefully OH will stop going on about flat caps and whippets soon....

Great news Lifebegins glad you got the Chip, Nine and NODEAL done. I think the trick with the in play bet is to do it on a safe result such as 3-0. I actually layed and back with Betfair and Arsenal was up with 30 min to go. I did see the market does get suspended just before the end sorry I should have told you. I only bet £5 lay and £5 back so I am not sure I have completed that part of the Challenge yet. Got £10 but no idea which one it is for. How much did you bet?

Do you find it hard to stop now? Tim thinks I should wait until the weekend but I already have a bet on for the BgBet Basket offer.

  • Well done Life Begins:T:T

Look at the loss as a positive. It's cost you £3 to learn a lesson - I suspect that will be a bargin over time

I finished the NODEAL games last night and was lucky to make a profit of just over £30 on the game plus the £20 bonus. Set up a Coral account for my wife and she's working through the bonus codes too.

Next I'm onto the matched betting side of things. It's a little harder because I have accounts set up with a lot of bookmakers already (through playing poker) therefore my choice is limited. I think Stan James will match a £25 bet although it's SNR so not as good as it could be. After that I think I'm going to have to face playing DOND again (mind numbing) through Eurobet.
