Help, making own wedding invites but need....

I'm making my own invites for our wedding and have managed to get some real bargains so far, in terms of the ribbon and pearlescent paper for the inserts, however what I need now are letter punches so that the invites turn out similar to this:
http://www.confetti.co.uk/shopping/stationery/selectOptions.asp?rangeid=1300&occasion=1
I think letter punch is the right name but I'm five months preggers and my brains seem to have fallen out somewhere!
I'd like them about that size but in an R and a T. It's not drastically urgent but I'd like to get it all sorted so I can budget properly.

Thanks in advance for reading/helping

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but you are not going to be able to find a letter punch to cut this out.

The example has obviously been done by machine, like a cricut machine or a craft robo. These are expensive. About £200.

Other option is to buy a quickutz hand tool and the appropriate alphabet you want. Hand tool will be about £30 on ebay. Alphabet about £50.

Alternatively instead of cutting the initial out of the card, you could buy some pre cut initials from the bay of e and stick them on. This should work out much cheaper.

I make cards, so if i can be of any other help just ask.

A quick google should bring up all the products i mentioned.
  • Thanks for the info, I did think about buying letters or even rub-ons and have tried it with some bits I have at home but didn't like the effect. Maybe I could find some embossers to do the initials instead. I think I may be turning into a fussy bridezilla, god help my OH!!!:D

  • what about getting some ink and that powder u pour over it and then heat with a heat gun (Crikey its been so long from i made cards i forget the name of the powder) it will then rise and look rather "posh" and pretty :) good luck

or if u dont have the ribbon already, why not get a stamp with the 2 initials you want and do a wax stamp to seal the invite closed?

    Hi,
I think emmylou means embossing powder which you can get in a huge range of colours. It takes a little bit of practise to get right but does look stunning.

    I have found these

but not sure if they are what you are looking for.

    The invites are gorgeous BTW
Officially a non-smoker but still rounder than recommended :p

Embossing would definately be the way to go!!

    You have 2 options :

    Clear ink and coloured powder

    Or

    Coloured ink and clear powder

I personally use clear ink as then it doesnt get messy if I acidentally miss the paper and get the table or somthing.

But you buy a stamp of choice. Stamp the design on the card, then instantly cover in embossing powder, shake of excess then use a heat tool to melt the powder. It will look great!!

  • Thanks everyone, some great suggestions, I have some ink and some gold and silver embossing powder at home, and of course a heat gun. I have bought the ribbon also, it's a purple organza so is a bit see through.
Thanks for the Ebay links, they are a really good price and I like the font. Some really ideas, if the ribbon doesn't go I could always use it for the flowers which I'm doing myself too. I like the idea of the wax seal too, thanks all.
