Don't know what to do....

in Credit cards
Hi all, I really don't know where to start. Evidently my husband has been living off his credit card(s) for years and paying the minimum payment each month. He has not always (rarely) paid on time and so charges are constantly added for all sorts of things. As he has been seriously ill in hospital since before christmas the companies have been chasing payments/arrears...they will take payments from me but not disclose any details on his accounts. I don't know how much or to who he owes and I don't want to make him more ill by having to burden him with this when he is so ill. What can I do? I am using my life savings to pay off what I can....please can anyone suggest what options I may have? He may never work again and it's too early to say whether he will be ok.
I have taken time off work to care for him and am starting to look into benefits etc...but these credit card companies are destroying me.
Many thanks

Hi,
can you locate any credit card statements etc in the home?
I would suggest that you call the CCCS, they are a debt charity, they will give you help and advice. http://www.cccs.co.uk/
Please call them sooner rather than later, and take a look at their website, it has lots of useful info on it.

I dont think you would be personaly responsible for his debts, is there any insurance incase of illness on the card payment.0

Thanks for the replies. I am trying to find the statements and NO he is not going to be using the cards again EVER!
The CCCS said that they have to deal with him....i'm going round in circles. Citizens Advice said write to the phone the Credit Card companies, tell them the situation and offer them what I can per week......I have benefits of £65 a week coming in and everyything has to come out of that....0
