I use the falafel burger recipe on the GC, it's delicious, and just make falafel sized bites, very moreish, although if I don't have everything I just suit myself with the basic, chickpeas, garlic, onion, coriander and some herbs.

ETA here it is, thanks to Kezlou

Thanks Jackie! I was clearly looking in the wrong place!

Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.

  • will try that recipe thanks.
I have had 2 goes at making Falafels and neither were successful.
1 used tinned chickpeas the other I used dried soaked ,but not cooked.Said I would only buy them next time ,may give them 1more go.
both times mine would not form balls but broke up on cooking.
    We all love chickpeas.

Thanks for this. I too, had given up, as no matter what I did, they always broke up. Will give it another go.

I know you have a recipe now, but i've used this one before and it was lovely. I'd never had or made them before and was most impressed! (so impressed infact that I have a 2.5kg tin of chickpeas waiting to be 'falafel'd' when I have the freezer space) :o

    Hi ,

I make falafel a lot and one of the main things to do is to check the chickpea mixture as your going along. That way you can change it before you cook it.

If the mixture is sloppy add more flour till it thickens up. If too thick add a little more water.
Make sure the oil is hot before you cook it other wise the mixture might fall apart whilst cooking.

If you wish to you can omit the egg and just add more plain four to bing the mixture together.

    Good luck
