hey;
don't want to go into detail here (understandably I'm scared of prying eyes) but an old debt has resurfaced of just over £1k. Im not sure I'll have to pay the full amount but probably will.
Once I know more I'l explain more, I had no idea it was even there; I had been told if there were any problems they would be in touch.
This happens because the people they employ to enter data (and change addresses) are people like me who would quite easily drop a bit of paper down the back of a desk and forget about it. That's the same reason I think those disks got lost by the government. Laziness.
Anyway I'm watching A Boy Called Alex on C4; it's putting things in perspective again. Lost a special beautiful person from CF a few years ago and I'm finally realising what she went through lived with; and how special she was for being fabulous daily.
So I can quite easily pay off this extra thing, it's a minor downer really; I just have to remember that.
Thanks for listening

Hi
Just wanted to say, if the debt is more than 6 years old and you have not made a payment in that time, you may not have to pay it.
Im saying this as I read it on another thread which I will try and find, but I am sure someone will be along soon who will be able to help you further.Give a man a fish and you will feed him for a day, teach him how to fish and you will feed him for a lifetime
Finally dealing with my whopping debt!0 -
Hi AA
I'm watching too and have a friend with CF ~ its pretty bloody humbling isnt it.
If the debt needs paying then you will pay it ~ in YOUR own sweet time ~ life is SO much more important

money, so say makes the world go around! But money will only rule your life if you let it. Yes the majority on here are in debt and we know that are are doing something about it but you have to remember there is a line that you dont have to cross, the line that means you feel crippled. We can all cut back and live a cheap life, many generations before us have but thats not to say you sacrfice quality time with your family/your life.0

No it's much less than six years; only two; and unless the people in command are kind (which they won't be) I'll certainly be liable.
It's a bit complicated but I'm positive they can't demand payment now or add interest or charges; that would be completely unreasonable.
Just sad as I wanted to chill out tomorrow but hope I get a call earlier rather than later. I'm going to face it and plea for leniency; I don't earn much and cannot magic that money out of thin air.
Thankfully; now MSE educated; I immediatly told family and friends so I have nothing to hide; and if there is no possible interest free (or very low) arrangement to be made I'll borrow from them interest free and pay them back.
Anyway it' an excuse to DFW in earnest now; no more mucking around, shirking eBay or Matched Betting... I've got to throw myself right into this!!LBM : August 2007my debts: less than this time last year....!DFW Nerd Club #706I'm Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts

AA - each and everyones issues are theirs - others never make yours less. Having just sobbed my way through the programme (my rite!) does not in anyway lessen your worries about this nasty surprise!
Hug and hope that you manage to get a way to work it out

Thanks guys. It's a blow to me but, in all seriousness, it's better now then three months ago, and much better now than last year.
If this had happened then I'd have buried my head even more. This doesn't mean I'm not gutted; I'm just armed enough to get through this maturely and responsibly.LBM : August 2007my debts: less than this time last year....!DFW Nerd Club #706I'm Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts
