A Dim Lbm ! Advice Please

Options
wonder if you lovely people could give me some advice
Back in september i had a mini Lbm, realised i needed to get a grip.. so i decided to transfer my 2 cc`s onto 0% balance transfers, i started with the largest, however the card i tried tooK me on but, when the paper work came through they hadn`t transferred the full balance, so i the tried to transfer the remainder on to another card again they took me on but not the full balance ! at this point a gave up, didnt even atempt to sort out my second card, so now i still have the original 2 cards + 2 more ! the 2 newer ones are gonna be coming to the end of their 0% soon, but now i`m worried that when i try and transfer the balances onto another 0% card i`ll end up in the same situation and be left with 6 or even more cards to try and pay off !!! it is making me feel so sick i dont know what to do  should i take out a loan and just be done with it ? the total amount spread over the 4 cards is arond £7,500 !!
HELP !!!! :(:(:(

  • Sorry you are feeling so awful - there will be light at the end of the tunnel, just hold on in here and keep on posting to get a bit of extra support and advice.

As you have been on MSE a while I'm sure that I don't need to tell you that if you take out a loan to consolidate you run a high risk of racking up the debt again. Perhaps looking at ways to throw money at the debts, if you haven't done it already use the snowball calculator and see what you might be able to achieve.

And of course post an SOA and see if people can help you find more money to get rid of them with.

thanks for your advice(whats an SOA? sorry it`s not just my LB thats dim)
it`s the fact that eveytime i try and transfer balances they never transfer the full amount, i just thought that if i had them all in one place i wouldnt have to keep trying to transfer and i`d have more of a chance of throwing money at it

  • Sorry - I shouldn't have used the abbreviation, it stands for statement of affairs (basically a huge reality check). It can be a bit painful so take a deep breath before you do it.

Here is a link to guidance on how to do one:
    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=107280

If you post it then people will be able to suggest ways of living for less and can highlight where you might be paying over the odds

Consolidation is great in theory but the first time I consolidated I had £12k in debt and it was 5 years ago, now look at my sorry (but improving) debt in my signature, I kept on using my cards despite being SURE that I wouldn't and so the debt rocketed.

If you use the snowball calculator then it will tell you how much to pay off of each card and when to do it which is pretty easy when you get into the routine (especially if you use internet banking and set up the next months payments as soon as the current ones have gone out.

    Good luck

  • It is a b*gger for doing that, you might want to type it into a word processing document and then copy and paste it in when you are ready.

Well done for pulling all the info together for it, at least it will be easier to post second time round.

I look forward to seeing your SOA tomorrow :D
