ED and the end of financial year?

Hi guys !!!,:D

HAVE I missed this site! Not been able to get on the net for what seems like months now, so MANY puter problems and no cash to sort them out with :D. Fingers crossed though, that now Im back for good :T

Hope 2008 brings relief to everyones problems and stresses , especially those of a financial type!

And that brings me to my wee problem, good news this week, my OH received the forms to start his Early discharge (fingers crossed) but now we are at a loss as to how to fill in the new I/E form:confused:. As you are all probably aware, payments for Council Tax and water and sewage etc, if paid by DD have all finished for this year, so for the next 2 months we have none of these payments to make! So what do we do, just leave these sections blank? I have phoned the council to ask what the new amount for this years bill will be, but they are not able to tell me until mid march! Bearing in mind that this ED form has to be returned within 14 days:eek:.

Also, as we were paying a HUGE amount of council tax, way over the original monthly amount , due to a big mess up with fantastic peeps at the Tax credit office (thanks guys) we held back paying what we should of on our gas and electic:o but I have just looked into starting a DD with e-on to pay for gas etc, and they want £187 a month!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (yes I did infact fall off my chair when they told me that!:rotfl:) What on earth is the OR going to say about that figure? Will it be allowed?

ANY ideas would be gratefully received.

Best wishes

    Hi scaredwitless,

Congratulations on the E.D, and getting back on line.:D

The council tax one is easy; 10 monthly payments of £120 = £1,200 p.a or £100pcm for your budget.

As for gas & electricity, the O.R normally allows around £80 pcm for a family of four, but given the recent rises in power costs that is way too low; in fact it's a bad taste joke.I would put what you've been quoted in your Budget and then slug it out with the O.R.

We ought to have a bankrupts strike;:T :T we need our allowable expenses increased in line with reality, not some contrived inflation calculation; at least a 15% increase, back dated for 12 months.:j :j
  • Hi Richard, thanks for your reply :) ..........if I had to argue with the OR would they then shelve the ED?

Well they would while they tried to determine your actual I&E. They cannot progress with ED until they are certain that there is no possibility of an IPA.

    Hi SW32 (swanky address:D :D )

It's more a case of negotiation than argument.;) Don't forget though, that this will be the last chance the O.R gets to land you with an IPA, so there'll be a certain amount of motivation for him/her to reduce your expenditure where they can.

I can't remember what your original I&E Budget was like.
