Hi There,
I know its not very money saving, but I really do want to have my make up done on my wedding day. Has anyone ever used Virgin for this?? i have been quoted £45 for me, £30 for mum and £15 for b/maids. Including trial for me and mum.
You think its a good price?

The VV price is very low for bridal makeup, but the consultants aren`t trained makeup artists and have just had basic training throught the Virgin Vie company. Usually they will advise you have a "trial" but what this tends to be is a makeup party where you ask people round, bridesmaids etc and have your trial with colours and then everyone there gets the opportunity to buy the makeup being used on them ie lipsticks for touch ups during the day. Obviously no one can be forced to buy the makeup and if you don`t then on the wedding day the consultant will use their kit to do your makeup.
Hope this helps.:j0 -
Hi PrincesPoppypop
I know they are not trained make up artists, my quote from a trained make up artist was £280 for me and my mum! which is crazy!!
For the trial, its just me and mum, she didnt suggest turning it into a make up party, if she does i will put her off.
thanks for your help0 -

greengre £280 is fairly cheap for wedding makeup , Ive known some makeup artists charge around £800 for their services.
Its like anything wedding related tho... add on a few extra £s to the real price! It is very unfair.
It does cost a fortune for a makeup artist to build up a kit and this is factored into the price charged.
Anyway back to VV, my friends had their makeup done by a VV Consultant and Ive got to say they werent at all impressed, they looked really pale and washed out, and once she had gone they added more of their own makeup.
Make sure you are getting the makeup you want after all it is your big day!
Good Luck :j0 -
to be honest, I've been asking around and haven't heard much postive feedback for Virgin Vie.
In fact, a friend's make up was done by a consultant and she made the bride feel uncomfortable by insiisting on wearing a lipstick colour she didn't like etc. she felt that she wasn't "herself" with what the consultant did.
I was toying with the idea of having someone to do my make up, but after having a trial run the other week with my wedding dress- I had my hair done and spray tan while trying my dress an choosing tiara etc, I looked so much different with the fake tan my skin looked glowing. A small dab of foundation, a little bronzer and highlighter and loads of mascara and I was very happy with the result. The fake tan made such a difference to me as I don't normally use it. So I'll be happy doing it myself.... I think!!0 -
ohh all this negative feedback is making me worried... all I know is I can not afford a proffessional make up artist and i dont think I do my make up that good
I think what I will do is have the trial and see how that goes..... thank you all for your comments! I will let you know how it goes

Hi Elaine,
Have you thought about trying your local community college and arranging it with a last year student? This could be cheaper and you could have many consultations before you made up your mind. It might be worth popping in and asking the tutor to recommend the best student in the glass. Perhaps you'd considered letting them use you for their portfolio. Good luck on finding what you want:A :
