Liverpool is listed in the Guinness Book of Records as being the Capital of Pop because more artists with a Liverpool origin have had a number one hit than from any other location in the world.
2008 sees Liverpool officially crowned the Capital of Culture and to celebrate this special event EMI will release Liverpool – The Number Ones Album on 4th February 2008, with all profits going to six local charities.
Bringing together some of the best loved Liverpudlian artists recording some of the most famous Liverpudlian songs of all time, the physical album features 21 number one singles, with the digital version including an extra 7 number one recordings.
Artists include: Atomic Kitten, The Farm, Ian McNabb, Thea Gilmore, OMD, The Scaffold, The Real Thing, Shack, Sonia, Elvis Costello, Frankie Goes to Hollywood’s Nasher feat. Connie Lush, China Crisis and more!
Anyone Who Had a Heart by Atomic Kitten is available as a download single on 28th January 2008.
Liverpool - The Number Ones Album is released in the UK on 4th February 2008.
