what do you mean by "this is the only area that imposes the charge"?
  • ist time i went and payed by card there was no charge. 2nd time went merrily to card checkout and was only just over £10 spend and chap told me that there was a 70p cc charge! Now i did think that this was an all ikea policy just as Lidl dont do cc. will always go with cash in future.

Going to ikea is like a day out for us, lol. I dont care if that's sad...each to their own. You sometimes get good ideas from their displays that you can adapt to your own house and then pretend to your friends that it was your own original design idea. :D (To my friends:- that was a joke!)

We arrive for opening, have a cheapo breakkie, saunter round the store, stop for meatballs around lunch time, go back to sauntering for a while before going to the marketplace to stock up on glasses, candles and other bits.

Then, on the way out, we have a hot dog and some ice cream and the youngest plays on the climbing frame outside before heading home several hours later.

    :D

(We live healthily the rest of the time, and usually eat more than our fair share of fruit and veg - honest, lol.)

It appears that Ikea Belfast are the only Ikea store that apply the 70p 'penalty' for using a credit card. On the Nolan show, callers confirmed that they had been to stores across the UK and Europe and none applied such a charge. I missed the end of the show when they were having a reply from Ikea and hoped someone else could confirm the outcome.

Yes but it only applies to people from Northern Ireland.
