If someone declares themselves bankrupt due to a large debt with the Inland Revenue does that clear the debt or will it still have to be paid? assuming there are no assets to sell to raise the money, and how long before they would be discharged?

Hi tassles,
HMRC debts are included in bankruptcy and discharge is 12months after the Bankruptcy Order date. If a case is straightforward with no complications such as property or improper conduct then Early Discharge can be as soon as 6months after the B.O date.
