Cheap Wine at Asda

Not sure if there is already a thread on this one!Went into our local Asda and as well as the usual bargains such as 3 bottles of Hardys Nottage Hill Cabernet Shiraz for £9 which is half price, they are again knocking out Lindemans Shiraz at £10 for 3 bottles (normally £8 a bottle).I saved over £50 on 12 bottles of red which will keep me going for a while, and the wine is good quality as well.I think the Lindemans offer should have finished before Christmas so could be a mistake!

  • It's on their website, too! Looks like free delivery for a £25 spend, and you get to book a 2 hour slot (including evenings) so don't have to be in all day.

  • Went into Asda yesterday and got three bottles of Kumala Pinotage Cinsault (which is £5.49 per bottle ) for £10.00. Great bargain and really nice wine.
  • I have twice tried to buy 'three for £10' bottles only to be charged full price. Customer services scanned them and said one wasn't in the promotion. When I checked on the shelf there certainly was a label. Maybe it was the wrong vintage or something, but how can you tell? Don't think the average shelf stacker is going to pay much attention.

I have had some nice wines in the promotion but check your receipt, particularly if you buy the wine as part of your regular shop!
  • I had the same problem so unless I am buying 3 of the same and they are obviously in the offer I ask one of the staff to just check it for me. They made the point that other customers move things about and that VERY similar bottles next to each other may not have the same offer.

Asda want you to ignore it but I went back and complained and had the difference refunded. :D

    The Lindemans is gorgeous:j
  • I've had that as well; two of the three bottles weren't in the promotion - despite the SEL labels clearly showing that they were.
They checked them against a list, then went back and (slowly) checked the labels, before finally (and not very politely) agreeing to charge me 3 for £10. It was the most expensive bottle that was actually in the promotion, so I don't know why they made such a fuss.

They were probably heartily sick of sorting these problems out:rotfl: It is a very badly designed offer from the point of view of Staff and Customers but OK for Asda's profits as most of us would not want to go through the implied humiliation.

I don't mind about that though! Getting quite well known at my local:D
  • just been on the asda site and they have some £7.00 wines showing up for the deal 3 for£10.00.
i am going to order them on-line as with asda(unlike tesco)they show you immediatly the price you pay.
£21.00 worth of wine for£10.00 is not bad at all.
  • Great value if you like wine. The Lindeman's Shiraz Cab. is superb. 3 for a tenner. Could you get better than that. £8.00 a bottle usually.
  • Just back from our local Asda/Walmart and the
Hardy Crest 2006 Cabernet Shiraz Merlot
is displayed on end aisle for £8 each or for 3 for £10.

I picked up some pretty good other deals....
4 x mini multipack of mini digestive, hobnob and choc chip (price £1.09 - £1.19 each) for £2.00 in total.
Muller Vitality drink 1x6pk for £1.97 or 2x6pk for £1.50.

Hope this makes sense and apologies if on wrong board...

    Misty :-)
