Seperation -Help needed to get new mortgage

Options
My brother is about to seperate from his wife. He is hoping to get about £40000 share from sale of his house. he wants to get a mortgage to buy a new house and talks about an interest only repayment. He is aged 58. Does any one have any advice about he can go about this or any other advice. Any help would be most appreciated

I heard on Johnny Walker's radio show this evening that the Yorkshire Building Society is doing a 'fresh start' mortgage for couples breaking up. Could be worth looking into. I think they were able to provide mortgages if the family home wasn't going to be sold, e.g. if the wife and any children will continue living there.
