Credit Card woes - UPDATE!!

Hi all,
Just wondering if you could push me in the right direction?
I have a credit card with Barclaycarp and want to leave them (do a 0% balance transfer).
The problem is that I have applied to 3 new credit card companies in the last year and none of them will have me!
I had a rough time at the end of 2005 and missed a few payments... but since then, I've been on track.
Does anyone know if there is anyone I can talk to or email to help me find a card who will accept me?
Can't carry on paying 17.9% & 21.9%!!!! I get about £30 per month in interest...!
Thanks in advance!
LP

Hi LP,
missed payments at the end of 2005 could be part of the reason u have been rejected, but also, applying for 3 cards within a year might make it look like u are 'desperate' for credit, which could make the lender decide 'no'.
I would get hold ofur credit file to see if anything sticks out, and do not apply for any more cards for a few months.... Also, with the 'credit crunch' its a lot harder for everyone to get cedit, even those with good credit scores....
In the mean time, one thing u could try is phone up Barclaycard and tell them that u want to leave, or would like a lower interest rate, and see what they say

Okay... thanks for the advice!
I have been looking harder at my credit report (I get a report from each of the agencies every month through checkmyfile).
It seems that I have had NO searches on any of my credot reports. NOT A SINGLE ONE!
And it seems that this might be the reason I am having trouble..
From the site:
''...up to about 12 searches on file in a year is perfectly normal and is expected. Very low levels of searches can tell lenders that you are not very credit active, so they may not be so willing to lend to you''....
hmmmmm... so I have applied to 3 credit card companies over the past year and not one of them has even done a search on me?
I'm baffled... I also called barclaycarp and asked them to lower my APR's, I was thinking of leaving, etc, etc... I was told no, there is nothing we can offer you. We can't lower your rates, sorry...
what now?
Apply for another credit card in the hopes that they will actually run a check on my credit files?
*sighs*

is it that the lenders you have applied to use a different credit agency?
That might explain why no searches. Other than that cannot be of any practical help0 -
thanks Peb, but my monthly report covers the big 3... callcredit, equifax and experian.....
are there any others????
help! I need to understand my credit report!
thanks

Don't know what to sugest LP really.... ur report covers the three CRAs... if there are other ones, they obviously aren't big enough to worry about...... and not sure about the searches thing..... i just checked mine and there are no searches on there either for the last couple of years.... and I got three credit cards last year! It may just be the 'credit crunch' biting... sorry I can't be any more of a help'We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars' - Oscar Wilde0
