Hi!
I'm new to the site and trying to get to grips with my finances which are a bit of a mess! I've noticed that a certain mobile phone shop has been taking money from my account quarterly for the last 6 years! This is for an insurance policy that was cancelled during my student days in 2002, from the research I've done I think I should be able to claim this money back. I have checked and the policy was definately cancelled so I've been paying for something that does not exist! Does anyone have any experience of trying to reclaim money from direct debits?
Thanks any advice would be appreciated

Provide your evidence of cancellation to the bank and can use the guarantee scheme. However, without any evidence of cancellation I think they will tell you to deal with the insurer directly as the guarantee scheme is really for errors where wrong amounts are involved or a company has taken money last month when they shouldnt have. It isnt really for someone who is trying to get back 6 years worth or premiums.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). If you have proof of cancellation I would write, sending a copy, to the phone company, asking them to investigate & refund all charges since the date of cancellation.
And don't forget to cancel the DD!0
