in Cutting tax
Hi, well heres my first of hopefully many posts to saving a few ££'s!
I have been working for a large construction company for about 2 years. I used to get roughly £125 of my pay per week tax free as this was for travelling expenses. Since the start of 2007 they had stopped giving me this tax free. Something to do with the government (not sure exactly). I was just wondering if it was possibble to claim back the tax on the fuel used for travelling to and from work.
I was also wondering if it was possible to have my uni fees £815.14p which i have to pay for a year, taken into account for a rebate.
I do not work self-employed.
Any info on what i am/am not able to claim would be great. let me know if there is any more information you need.
Thanks!!

If you are just travelling to and from your place of employment, you may not claim any tax allowance for this.
If you are paying your uni fees yourself, then you are not able to claim any tax back on them.Gone ... or have I?0 -
i was under the impression that i could on the fuel but only if i wasn't on the same site for a set period (Something like 2 years) because then it gets classed as your permamanent place of work. Could be wrong though, so thats why i posted.0
