Ok I have a new slow cooker, it now has all the stuff in for a casserole and is on low so that it is ready for DD's tea at 4. Now I have to go out all day and have suddenly thought, am I supposed to be around to stir it or something? I'm abit of a worrier and now I'm thinking I'll come home to a house that has exploded on account of my casserole :rotfl:

To be totally safe, leave it on a non-burnable surface, like the hob. A friend of mine left hers on and went to work; she came back to find it had malfunctioned and burned a hole in her countertop. Fortunately it did not set her kitchen on fire.

Wow! Until I read Pandora's post I'd have been quite confident that nothing could go wrong - surely one of the selling points is that one can come in from work to a delicious meal ready to eat?? Still I guess there's always some exception to normal practice - hope it's really, really rare! Never worried about mine before.....Resolution:

As I 'work from home', I've never had to leave mine completely unattended for more than an hour or so. The hardest part about this is resisting 'just checking how its doing'
.
I HAVE left it on all night though to pre-cook a ham shank before making pea-whack (pea-soup for the non-Scousers!) - the smell when you come downstairs in the morning is absolutely gorgeous.

Hi headoutthesand,
Yes it will be fine to leave on....I do all the time. There's a very recent thread on this so I'll add your post to it to keep all the replies together.
