We are hoping to organise a party for my grand-parents as their Golden Anniversary is fast approaching (6 months). We are just looking for some original, but not tacky, ideas that will make the party memorable. Any ideas accepted. Thanks in advance.:j

My friend has just organised a party for her parents.
Not really a party arranging idea but she took a photo of everyone who attended and got them to sign a guest book limiting it to one guest per page and presented it to them after the event with a picture of each of them on each page.
Her parents were really pleased and it was a great momento of the evening!Officially a non-smoker but still rounder than recommended

Hey crompton,
You don't specify size or venue but I think the best idea is to make it really personal - I know of someone who arranged a golden anniversary party and based it on ideas from the original wedding - colours, 50's style tea dance, finger buffet etc.
Timelines are popular/good for aniversary parties and while not original in themselves you could think about different ways of displaying pictures/information about their history together (normally done on a poster/display board). As it's a summer event you could think about a timeline garden - find a selection of pictures of them, friends and family, print out and laminate then attach them to bamboo canes and display them around the edge or amongst the flower beds at the house/venue.
If any of your friends/family have the talent, ask them to sing the couple's favorite song during the event.
At their time of life (I'm making an assumption here!) generally people don't want more 'stuff' so think about having a whip round to hire a vintage car or limo to transport them.
Hope some of that is of help... if not give us more of an idea of size/venue/budget and perhaps something about the couple.0 -
How about scanning in as many photographs of them that you can find, and photographs of relevent family members/ friends etc. Then set it to one of their favourite music tracks. Then hire/ utilise a screen and speakers, and play it to them.
If you keep it fairly short and keep the pace quite snappy, I think it'd be a lovely surprise. Especially if they haven't looked at their photos for a while, or if you can find ones they won't have seen!0 -
well thanks for the ideas so far guys, keep them coming! The venue will be able to hold around 150 people (local sports and social club). We thought about making personalised baloons for them (gold) and just having their wedding date in black as this would be quite original. Any other ideas? We were debating making a sort of, this is your life, style powerpoint presentation and presenting that as a bit of fun. We also found an old address book so will be going through that for guests in our this is your life segment. Cheers anywayLike what I said? click thanks!:rotfl: :rotfl:
