    Hi cadmus,

You can get energy savings bulbs to work on a dimmer switch but they are
expensive at about £10.00 a bulb.It would take a long time to save money at that price.
I am sure that in the future their price will diminish.

    Cheers

I haven't bought any new ES bulbs for years as they last so long, but noticed them going for very little in Wilkinson's recently. I got most of mine from Lidl's, a couple free when I switched fuel suppliers, and a couple free from the Council offices when I called in to ask about something wholly unrelated. If you're passing your Council offices, why not call in and see if they're giving any away.

Ebay have 40 60w equivalent Philips bulbs for 14.99. Only downside is the postage is almost 12 quid, but seems a good place if you want to buy in bulk

A warning - 11w is supposed to be '60w equivalent', but we've wasted £££s on them! They are rubbish. You need at least an 18w bulb ('100w equivalent') to get the same quality of light.
