Tesco: Online & Instore Price Differences?

Hiya
Can someone with more experience please help out?
I really like the Tesco 'Kick' energy drink and was chuffed to see on HotUKDeals that it was now halfprice to 45p per litre rather than 92p a bottle so toddled off after double checking it online to get some with some other bits we'd run out of.
On the shelf it was still 92p (though the other things we'd seen online like the Original Source Shower Gel for 98p, Large Domestos for £1.19, Haribo for 65p, Toad In The Hole (Aunt Bessies) 74p, Vaseline Body Lotion stuff etc was all the price it said online so I took it to the Customer Service desk and asked her to scan it to see what price it came up at - still 92p.
Are some offers only online? (seems stupid to not actually *say* it on the offers if this is the case) or do some stores have it at the 42p? I'm going to ring in the morning to enquire but I'd prefer to be as well armed as possible with the information.
Thanks

Yeah prices for Tesco instore and online do vary
even between different stores it varies too0 -
Thank you!
I just checked the thread again: http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/135595/kick-energy-drink-reduced-to-45p-te/ and it said that it was instore the person spotted it so will have to ring and enquire if it's going to start at my store.
Stupid to have them differ from area to area0 -
Normally the online only offers will have "Online Exclusive" next to them.0

A direct quote (admittedly slightly paraphrased) from my customer services man: "Do not believe a word of what they say on Moneysavingexperts.com because a lot of it isn't true. If you did what they said half the time, you'd be commiting fraud, like the ecoupons etc."
He said people ring them up all the times having got coupons from MSE and they have to tell them that they can't use them because it's out of the T&C's which yes - we know - but I couldn't help feeling insulted by what he said.
I rang up just a few moments ago and explained the situation that I'd seen the drink on hotukdeals and online and I went in to buy it - and a few other things - as I do really enjoy it and whilst it's half price it's a bargain. He said it's all to do with their suppliers and what they want to sell it as as it's an internet only price. (And is the reason they can't sell football shirts because they'd sell them too cheap and they wouldn't make enough royalties etc)
I said that it had been seen instore by a couple of people on the other forum and that's when he said not to believe what is said.
He said there was nothing else he could do about it and I said that as I lived nearer asda I'd do my shopping from there from now on where their similar own brand drink is always 59p for a ltr and ended the call
Nice to know they appreciate their customers isn't it0 -
What do you want him to do, if it comes up at 92p on the till and on the shelf price do you want him to overide it because someone on the internet said it was half price ?0
-
I wanted it for the price that it was online - which even then seems to be a mistake as it was listed as 92p but showed the offer. (they've taken it off completely now  Before they'd only changed the date from 5/2 to 23/1)
It didn't SAY that it's online only - other offers that are online (like domestos/haribo/aunt bessies etc as mentioned in my first post) were instore too so why not say 'exclusive to online' like Curry's do (i know - selling different things, but it's the same idea).
Shopping to a budget means that things that are on offer that we enjoy should be snapped up quickly (or that things like BOGOF's are used to their fullest extent) - and that is a favourite of mine, for that price I'd have bought quite a few bottles dependant on BB date.
I mentioned that it didn't specify online only and he said it was a good idea as in the 6 years he'd been there it hadn't been mentioned to him before (I find that hard to believe) so he's put it forward to be considered apparently.0 -
They have a T&C clause which gets them out of it though:
Please note that the prices on our Grocery website are guide prices only. The actual price you pay will be the price charged in store at the time your order is picked for delivery. The actual order value cannot be determined until the day of delivery because the prices stated on the website may vary either above or below the prices in store on the day your order is picked and delivered.Out of my mind.
