Please help - bit confused (easily done - LOL)
It usually works but if it doesn't then don't whine as it leads to a Customer Service person coming over and making a shame out of you. It happened to me.
If the voucher is turned down, simply keep it for next time.

It happens .. twice in one week ... I am getting better at it thenJazzycat wrote:Tesco's do stock the item in question Ivan.
I'm afraid your last post is somewhat patronising.
What you are missing is that (as far as I am aware) the acceptance of generic vouchers by a shop is NOT a right ... it is a privilege, if they are turned down then there is no sense in making a 'song and dance' about it. Tomorrow Tescos could say we are no longer accepting Sainsbury vouchers and vice versa .. the fact that they do is great ... but again Tescos et al have the definitive right to withdraw this privilege - which they may consider if it becomes a lot of hassle for them or it causes some of their checkout operators to take abuse (something I have seen when they have refused to take a voucher).Exactly who are you to say what we should and shouldn't do? These big multi-national conglomerates who can well afford the £3 in question. In a year I spend almost £5k with them so to take a stance that you have is rather narrow minded and not at all in the spirit of this website.
That does however go against the spirit in which the voucher is offered. If I remember right a certain owner of this site had to see a certain supermarket over the posting and subsequent misuse of internet related discount codes. It is noones interest to over abuse a system to the point of it closing down.Stores extend their coupon acceptance schemes to get us into the store - its not something for nothing. You will never see the day that stores stop accepting coupons for items you don't purchase. The store does get the money back from the supplier (they don't have to send in their receipt to prove it either!)
They couldn't afford me - I am also far too sexy to work for Tescos.Have you thought of a career in Tesco PR?
I agree .. just don't make a fool of yourself by getting angry at the checkouts. If it isn't accepted this time, try the next time or try somewhere else.If you have a coupon - use it!!!
IvanI don't care about your first world problems; I have enough of my own!0 -
Ivan,
thanks for your reply and comments.
I totally agree with you on this - taking frustration out on service staff is not on - they are only doing their job.IvanOpinion wrote:it causes some of their checkout operators to take abuse (something I have seen when they have refused to take a voucher).

I also agree with you on this point. I wouldn't argue the toss as it would genereally be pointless - as you say try again a different day etc.IvanOpinion wrote:if it isn't accepted this time, try the next time or try somewhere else.
