Opinion pieces - how/where to sell them?

My background is PR and I have always worked in house and never dipped my toe into the world of freelancing. I've written (as a hobby) a series of opinion/observation pieces which I think are pretty good (if I do say so myself).
But I'm not sure what to do with them, whether just to post them on a blog site or whether I could sell them to a publication.
They are mainly female orientated, so I guess one of the womens mags, but not sure.....
Any help would be great.

It might be a good idea to do one of the freelance journalism or opinion writing/reviewing courses. They basically suggest you have a publication in mind before you write anything and target it specifically rather than writing what you want then finding someone that might be interested. I am in the middle of the Cleland Thom one. Luckily you can take as long as you like as I have been very hopeless at getting anything written at all!
Blogs can be syndicated. Scoopt used to do this but it has changed ownership so I don't know how good it is anymore. They'd have people blogging away and some of them appeared in mainstream media. There are loads of bloggers around so you have to be special or well timed in articles written to make it big I think now.
Best bet is to probably buy a few women's mags and read them and make notes on the kind of articles they publish and see whether what you have already written fits in with them. There should be contacts in the magazine about sending in articles. If they only have in house writers then they may not publish anything from freelancers at all. Nothing ventured, nothing gained!0
