I line dry throughout winter, checking the weather forecast first of course! I usually put it out around 6.30am and often not bringing it in until after 6pm. Yes, its not dry but I then re-hang it indoors on my airer and it is all dry by the morning. If I purely dry indoors then it takes at least 2 days to dry so definitely worth half-drying outside even if you cannot bring it in before the dew descends.

I have even hung washing out when there's been a heavy frost all over the washing line:eek:

Less creases, less condensation and a nicer smell to my washing.:j
    Nice to save.
  • i line washing in the garden when i can,but its worth exploring wether you have any other under cover areas you can string a washing line up.
we'd been at our hse for 6yrs b4 it dawned on me that i could use one of those retactable lines under my open porch area.
washing gets any breeze, but unless its raining horizontally:eek:(i do live on the edge of dartmoor!!) doesnt get affected by the rain.
friend also has a retactable line in her shed, she just leaves the door to shed open for airflow(shes got nowt else in her shed, except for kids bucket and spades,so security isnt an issue)
  • I always try and put mine out and give it a blow then i put it on the clothes horse or finish off the towels on a 10 mins in the dryer. I will keep putting it out until it gets very cold, although once i left some jeans on the line years ago and they stood up in the kitchen when i got them in was so funny !
  • keep looking at the website www.raintoday.co.uk

It is very very accurate and you can see if and when you will have rain within the following few hours. I thought it was so good after testing it, that I paid for the premium service and now I`ll know if snow is coming in winter or just rain. That one is free
