My Spending Diary

Hi all,

Since I feel a fair chunk of my disposable income goes on junk food during the working week I have decided it is time to see exactely where it all goes. From the 21st January 2008 (payday) to the 20th Febuary 2008 I shall be keeping track of every single penny I spend. I'll be updating this on a daily basis and totalling up at the end of each week.

Here goes.....

Well the diary is going quite well this week. Managed to note down everything I have spent. Spent a total of £8.96 on food for the working week which is pretty good considering I could sometimes spend £5 - £8 a day on food in the canteen.

Unfortunately had to buy hair products because I had ran out and have also been putting any spare £ coins in the Centre Parcs funds but that counts as savings.

Overall not a bad week I think, hoping to improve it with next weeks.

Yea it isn't too bad but really hoping to cut down on everything this week. I spent an extra £10 on fuel than I normally do at the weekend. Treated myself to a subway Saturday which I don't normally do but it was just because I was in the city centre, starving and I happened to walk by one :-P The hair stuff normally lasts me above a month but I had ran out and I have put nearly £10 into my pots.

The badminton shuttles I shouldn't have bought really but my brother was moaning we always use his so I went and got some. They will come in handy though as we have started playing on a weekly basis.

  • i always go on the side of that u need a life and with a life comes some costs, its just a balancing act of not being over frugal and paying back debt that 1 month quicker but having no social life and over spending and having a great social life but becoming in a worse position than u are now

  • Hi I was wondering how the £89.69 for last week compared to what you would normally spend.

Since I started keeping my spending diary I have cut my expenditure to about half.

    Good Luck!

I've never really paid proper attention to what I normally spend, it varies wildly so will be good to see how the next week or two go.

Well this working week has been ALOT better than the last. I've spent a total of £0.55 on two cups of coffee. I am at work today but have a HUGE packed lunch and no cash on me so will be a no spend day as far as food goes. I'm only working half a day too.
