  • I always exchange Yorshire Tea Tokens for the Cake Voucher, which is valid in most supermarkets. 10 tokens for 1 cake voucher,and valid for a few months, but I have not tried selling the voucher on...I like the cake!

    I got a till spit for extra 250 clubcard points on purchase over £12 on clothing, still almost a day to go and bid is at £2.50 on ebay. People seem to pay on average double the points value ie mine may reach around £5, but guess it also depends on what you have to purchase to get the points.
    seems like too much hassle for me but happy to profit from it if I'm not likely to use the voucher.
    Also sold some legoland tickets last year because some friends dropped out of our visit -and got about double what it cost me in vouchers to buy them.

    Sadly you can't. There is no way to transfer the miles from your account to someone else.

    Paper vouchers in various denominations of miles are what were issued by companies before the scheme was computerised a decade or more ago. They are still valid and had the benefit that you could give them to someone else. I sold a load a while ago because I realised they were selling for much more than you could get in free flights or whatever. Not sure why they were.
  • Please be aware that PayPal is not the best way to keep cash as
    B) They changed their T&C's a while ago to the following. When you send something out to a buyer (who's paid by Paypal) and the buyer claims to have never received it, they can claim against Paypal. Who automatically refund their money by withdrawning it from your Paypal account(if you have a bank account/credit card registered against/with your Paypal account then they will request the money form that account into yours then witrhdraw it. With the credit card you can on most occasions get the credit card company to give you the money back and they claim against Payapl but if it is from your Bank account.........let's say pulling teeth is easier.:confused:).

    You then have to provide evidence that the item was delivered to the buyer. If the buyer is a scammer they will have withdrawn all the money out of their madeup/temporary Paypal account they created for this transaction and close it. This is so that when Paypal agree that the item WAS delivered (a few weeks later from the evidence you send in) then no money is refunded back(IE Paypal NEVER refund from their money, they always refund from the users account to users account), in this case £0 as their is no account now.

    Just want to clarify that this isn't entirley true.
    Paypal are NOT allowed to withdraw from your card/bank. You have to transfer funds. If a buyer claims not to have received, the funds are FROZEN not withdrawn to make sure this kind of thing doesn't happen. They only withdraw from your Paypal account (not your bank account) if the dispute has been escalated to a claim and it is found in the buyers favour.
    What DOES happen is you prove you posted either by recorded delivery tracking number or certificate of posting which you would get free anyway. Then paypal will pass this information on to the buyer to make a claim against Royal Mail.

    I know because I have this problem a couple of times before and just had this problem again last week by ebay scammers.

    Thats not quite right either Savvy - Proof of posting certificate is not seen as any form of proof by PayPal as that does not prove the buyer received the item. The Seller has to provide a Royal Mail tracking number as evidence so that a signature is available as proof of delivery.

    And only the Seller can claim for a lost item with the Royal Mail by filling in a form. RM then contacts the buyer to ask if they received the item. If the buyer says no RM will refund the seller (but postage costs only exactly as you were charged by them, not packing fees). If the buyer does not respond to RM then the seller does not get their money back.

    If the Seller has not sent the item recorded or signed for then the buyer can easily get their money back from PayPal and because the Buyer did not choose to pay recorded or signed for they will get their money and the Seller will be out of pocket

  • there are some deals which don't have names on, but others such as goldsmiths, holidays etc. need your name.

    vouchers for restaurants can be used for entrance to theme parks, for example though.
    Thanks Carmina Piranha for your reply (sorry for delay in responding). I shall only buy my friends' vouchers for Blockbusters then, not Goldsmiths. I thought I read somewhere on one of these forums that Goldsmiths accepted other vouchers as well., e.g. someone who bought her wedding ring with vouchers in both her married and maiden name.. :cool:
  • This hunt looks to have fizzled... But if anyone is about, is the general concensus that it is better to convert to restaurant/ days out vouchers before selling on eBay? It looks to me oike they get a similar amount (about twice ttheir face value, or half what they can be used for).
    And wow re: how much you can sell an 1000 points for £50 code. I wouldn't want to make that much on that myself...
  • First of all I would like to point out we have used PayPal for four years without any real issues, other than a request improve the level of customer service to avoid * limiting our account while we provided the information they request.

    A little more than 12 months ago PayPal requested we add a new credit/debit card to our business account, confirm bank details, etc. While we performed said tasks our business account was set to * limited. Unfortunately, part of the security procedure involved PayPal making a small deposit in our business bank account which took 4 days to complete; we lost customers and several renewals because we looked unprofessional.

    12 months on, PayPal requested the same information as well as copies of my passport, driving licence, and utility bill. I duly provided – meanwhile, the above experience occurred for a second time.

    We now find our PayPal business count set to limited despite providing all the information requested. After several days, PayPal eventually inform me we pose an unacceptable risk and therefore our account will not be reinstated. When I enquired how PayPal arrived at such a ludicrous decision, despite never having a chargeback made against us, or a complaint against us. Two weeks on, PayPal feel they have no case to answer.

    On top of this, they say they will be withholding all the funds held on account for 180 banking days. This is on top of the 75 days I have wasted dealing with PayPal.

    Its worth pointing out a conversation I had with a customer support member, which quite frankly astounded me. I pointed out that it is best practise to advance warn their clients they will be required to furnish PayPal with security related information before they need it and at least offer clients a certain timeframe to perform the task before disrupting businesses in such a draconian way.

    The response – Yes I agree Sir, but it would not be as much fun! While I appreciate the honesty, I did not appreciate the attempt at being humorous.

    * Limited account: Essentially, our customers or potential customers can not send us money; we can not send money or withdraw money held on account, or close the account.
