:T I'm like Nigella - I may be extravagant, but I'm never wasteful
Rare breed meat, good quality food, high quality kitchen equipment are all non-negotiable for me
We have an existing thread on this subject, so I'll merge it to keep ideas together.

I will only use Fairy washing powder and comfort fabric softener, I like the smell
)
I end up buying one particular brand of Dog food for my puppy, if only I had the room to store meat i'd get him on the BARF diet.
Luckily, I have 5 hens so don't have to worry about buying eggs anymore. x0 -
I can't do cheap toothpaste, coffee or bread;)The rest of the time I am quite thrifty but have to have holidays or i'd go mental:D:D
i dont like cheap toothpaste either, i like Colgate Total.
Imagine my surprise when i found the large tubes in the £1 shop.
They were retailing at nearly twice that in Morrisons.
Needless to say, i bought quite a few.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
I am of Afro-Caribbean origin, so I cook rice about 3 or 4 times a week. I would never use supermarket value rice, it always seem to come out as a sticky soggy mess!!!0

I drink instant coffee but I'm fussy about the brand - it has to be Kenco. Teabags have to be either Tetley or PG Tips, nothing else will do.
Bold washing tablets, because anything else makes my skin itch (although I don't have to buy fabric softener).
Shampoo and conditioner - I have annoying hair and Elvive seems to be the best for making it behave, but I only buy it when it's on offer. Also Castings hair dye.
Toothpaste - I use Arm and Hammer Enamel Care.
Appliances - you get what you pay for. We just bought a very expensive Samsung fridge freezer and washing machine, but they'll last for years.
Cat food - our wee lad is on prescription food as a preventative measure, after a serious illness a few years ago. There's not really any reason he couldn't eat cheap cat food (if the illness came back it can be cured although it would cause him a lot of discomfort) but better safe than sorry, and my wee ginger bloke is far more valuable than any savings we'd make.
Bounty/Plenty kitchen roll - because you use far, far less than you do a cheapy version and it's a false economy. And toilet roll - own brand is fine as long as it's soft, because when I was at school we had some awful stuff that resembled greaseproof paper and I've sworn never to make my bottom that unhappy ever again :rotfl:0 -

I'll add that one to my list! I'm happy enough to use Sainsbury's own mostly (except this week when Andrex became mysteriously cheaper!)0 -
Ground coffee. And that's it. If I had a grinder I'd buy freshly roasted beans. Everything else I can either compromise on or do without.0

I've just come back from Waitrose with some Method lavender cleaning spray and some Method biodegradable wipes. The spray smells lovely, really natural. I wanted to get the loo cleaner but they don't stock it, it comes in such a funky bottle. Have you seen the website?
