Have you done a general search on cheap ferry tickets? Sometimes they are advertised at a special price, or included free in holiday bookings.

I got a very cheap holiday including free Ferry via Teletext one year - admittedly it was out of season, but there are often bargains, even in August.

IF you shop at tesco's and get the clubcard vouchers through the post you can exchange these for 4 times their value to get the clubcard deal tokens which can be used for wightlink ferries-we travel regularly over to isle of wight and have used tesco deals a few times....
  • If you are coming for more than 5 days, little chance of getting an offer. However, you can use two day return tickets, which is often cheaper.

Also try Red Funnel, and if you are flexible re: times/days of travel, try various combinations, as RF prices do vary quite a lot.

If you are a student you could get the half price return tickets by just showing your NUS card at the hovercraft terminal. This only works on the hovercraft and not the ferries though.
