Accrue

Can someone please explain this to me,
Thanks in advance.

'for those who accrue maximum service before normal pensionable age the excess service should be allowed to accure for pensionable purpose'

This is regards to the Fire Brigade pension for which I believe the max that can be paid in 40/60

Firefighters can earn pensionable service at higher than normal rates in some circumstances, so that they reach 40/60ths before they are due to retire. Under their current scheme any further service they earn does not count towards their pension. Under the proposed new scheme it will count towards their pension.

Whether this is actually better or not depends on the benefits from the two schemes and I haven't looked into that.
