if you get a virus on your pc its not the products fault, its your fault!
Sparkz.
under the sales of goods act 1979 all products that a retailer says must be fit for purpous and last for a reasonable time. Some items are covered up to 6 years. The extra service is a con and you tell Which magazine who have done numerous articles about this and come to the same conclusion.0 -
6 months ago I purchased a laptop from PC World, having also purchased PC Performance insurance I was informed by the sales assistant that I would be eligible for an immediate replacement if anything went wrong. I left very satisfied only to have to return that evening as the laptop I had purchased was faulty. We discovered I had been sold a second hand machine not a brand new one I had intended, which would make sense as when I purchased it oddly enough they couldn't locate the original box but justified that by saying it had been misplaced. Since it was the last one available I had to pay extra for another laptop and 6 months later it failed. I then returned to the store expecting an immediate replacement whilst mine was repaired but was informed by two very arrogant technical bods that there was no such facility. An hour later, a very kind shop floor manager attempted to solve the problem only to discover the original PC performance I had been paying for per month was applicable to the previous faulty machine and had not been transferred to the second one. What a Joke!0

DSG group (includes Currys, Dixons and PC World) are scoundrels and should be avoided like the plague. Not only their finance is a con, but they try and sell you extended warranties that are an even bigger ripoff.
The PCs they sell are generally cheap own brand tat and their 'extras' are way overpriced e.g. you will pay double for memory chips compared to buying over the internet.
yes bought 3 yrs extra warranty £150 for pc that went belly up after 18 month got new pc via this but then told remaining 18 month is lost so £75 out of pocket now hfc have pulled out from currys etc and thay are not offering credit in any of their stores, also the last 2 pcs ive had from curries when i checked they were discontinued models but this was not pointed out at the time:mad:One day ill be clever and know things.:j0 -
I bought a laptop from PC World back in 2002 with finance from HFC and all went well for a few months paying it back. Then they phoned me up and asked me if I wanted a bit more money to pay off some debts and credit cards and I said yes and went in to see them at their office.
Back then I wasn't as clued up about finances etc as I am today and at the time I was working part time and doing an adult education course. They purposefully and openly encouraged me to "cook" my figures and income to make it qualify for the loan since "technically I wasn't earning enough".
Naturally, a few months later I fell into difficulties paying back the loan, which was nearly £3000 and eventually defaulted. I had one of their guys turn up on my doorstep 2 days before Christmas 2004 threatening allsorts. He left eventually, and his final words for me were "see you in court!"
Since that day, I've had no letters, no further visits, no phone calls, no CCJ. The default drops off my credit file on 30th June 2010.
I can only think they pressed the delete button on the computer whilst looking at my file.
I didn't deliberately avoid paying, they just stopped asking for the money!Remember this: nothing worth doing is easy.0 -

It's already statute barred by a few months now (I don't count their one and only visit lol) so they can send me anything they like. The default is registered as "Aktiv Kapital (HFC)" on my reports, but I've never had any contact from AK, and having lived at the same address for almost 6 years, they knew where to find me.Remember this: nothing worth doing is easy.0
