Sorry had to edit this as the company just emailed me but I was complaining about a 'signed for' item (an item ordered through a voucher win) being bent and damaged through my letterbox even though we werent in to sign for it yet it had 'signed for' written on it and the company's reply was suggesting my postman was helpful to do that!
Maybe they read what I wrote as they apologised for the poor service and said they have emailed Royal Mail to enquire and should hopefully let me know who signed for it.
They said they specifically send the items with Royal Mail recorded so that it does not get bent and that it should not have been folded and forced through the letterbox, especially when it was supposed to be signed for.
Thanks for the help and it would still be interesting to know, if anyone knows for sure if postmen are 'allowed' to sign for items themselves, or even get a neighbour to do it? I thought the item should then be left with the neighbour and not forced back through my letterbox?

get in touch with your local sorting office or whatever and see what they say I think
well don on the win thoWeight Loss - 102lb0 -
Your sorting office may be better than ours but we had a period when lots of post was going missing, when the postie was just posting the invoice/receipt that comes with a delivery through the door (and the item was going missing) and we contacted our local sorting office who were not in the least bit interested. We also wrote to the Area Manager whose name is on the 'contact me if I can help' poster in the sorting office and never even got a reply (though perhaps he never received the letter:rolleyes: ). We have a FAB postie now, though, who is really great and I can't fault him.
Maybe you could write to the company telling them how disappointed you are with the service or speak to someone in customer services if you haven't already.
Sorry, I don't think this post is much help but if the company isn't that interested, I doubt whether there is much you can do. Really disappointing, though.A [STRIKE]B[/STRIKE][STRIKE]C [/STRIKE]D E [STRIKE]F[/STRIKE]G H I J K L M N O P Q R S [STRIKE]T[/STRIKE]U V [STRIKE]W [/STRIKE]X Y Z0 -

I have had similar instances.
I have had Recorded Delivery items (which should be signed for) shoved through my letterbox!
I have also had a 'signed for' vinyl record (stating 'FRAGILE' on the cardboard backed evnelope) left underneath my doormat!
I know the postie's are trying to be helpful (most of the time) but sometimes I think they just don't want to carry these packets pack to the base!Eleventh Heaven No. 321

i had a signed for parcel from parcel force last year, i was watching for the van to arrive as i was expecting the delivery as i had been tracking online. i saw the van stop 2 doors up make a delivery and go again..... checked online and my parcel had been signed for so went to the neighbours and the item had been left on their doorstep and the postie had signed for it as the neighbour was in the bath at the time and didnt answer the door... so i collected my parcel off their doorstep and went back later that night and a card had been put through their door saying parcel had been left outside. i complained to parcel force about this but all i go back was a latter of appoliogy and the same man is still driving for them today....not good service at all... pleased i saw him make the delivery or i would have been stuffed.
