Redundancy - Tax on PILON benefits

in Cutting tax
Today I was advised that my job was being made redundant and given a breakdown of proposed redundancy payments. I am to be paid Payment In Lieu Of Notice(PILON).
The breakdown shows that they are deducting tax for Private Health Insurance(PHI) from the PILON payment. As I am not working the notice period and the PHI covers employees only I will not be covered during the period covered by the PILON payment. Should I pay tax on a benefit I am not going to receive?
