+£3.95 for P&P (per order, so buying more than one saves £££)
It's the 8x one (a fairly normal speed), but still a bargain

TBH I much rather pay that bit more for a faster write 40X or greater. I got a 1gb 80x Pro Lexar and a 512mb 40x for spare (not Lexar though but a Pro card) Depnds on really if you want a fast card, pro consumer cameras really require faster writes.

Shrek, I know what you're saying, but for the average camera (I'd say anything this side of £500) it's a bit of a moot point as the buffer \ camera transfer speeds the limiting factor anyway. It does depend on the camera, but on the solid state cards the difference between the slowest (x4) to the fastest (x80) looks to ammount to about 30% faster at best.
For anyone interested in the best card for there cam (DSLR's only) then here's a good site...
Rob Galbraith's CompactFlash Performance Database
But really only necessary for the fastest of shooters! (I use one of the slowest cards on the chart, a 4GB Hitachi microdrive, and it suits my style of shooting just fine)

Can someone explain what the speed actually does on a compact flash card?Just bought my first digital camera a Canon Power shot A85 this stuff is all new to me buffer/ transfer speed etc.Would a low speed card be ok for me assuming they are cheaper than the high speed cards0

I think the short answer is yes a "low" speed card would be fine. For a standard camera like the A85, the difference would be very hard to notice.
It starts to get more important with huge megapixel camera's (6MP + ) as there's that much more data to shift.0
