Im back- this time its not for me!

Hi Everyone

Doesnt seem too long ago that i was here!! Hope you are all doing well!!

Anyways- im here just for a bit of support really- i know i can count on you guys!!

My parents- well, in particular my mum has/have gotten themselves into debt again. They remortaged again last year- around June/July time (if i remember!) And were supposed to have paid off all their existing debts as well as having work done on their house (which they did get done!) My mum rang me up a few weeks ago, not herself, really down & crying- not like her at all, she told me that she was being chased/harassed by natwest credit cards, because she hadnt paid her bill for that month, ok i say, not a problem we will sort it out, asked her what the balance was- its 1500 she says- not the end of the world- her & dad both earn decent salaries- so i say get a balance transfer & set up to pay 100 a month into it- ok she says- so i get her a balance transfer with virgin- for 0 % for 14 months- she went away last week- (a present paid for by my uncle for her 50th & she went with spends from family & friends- 165 euros!) so the card arrives, & its all sorted out- or so i think- i

rang her this morning to ask if it had been sorted out- but she was upset again- it took me ages to get her- and when i asked if she had been upstairs- she said no- she hadnt answered the phone because she was scared it was the bank chasing her again- i told her not to worry because it was all now sorted out- and that if they said anything just to let them know that she had arranged a BT & it was being processes- should be done by tomorow, she then says that she thinks there is a letter from the bank for her as she had a thing from the post office about a recorded letter- then lets me know that she has 2 other CC's- one with mint & one with MBNA- both around 1K- she tells me that she pays them by DD so they havent been chasing her-

After them helping me out, im racked with guilt that its my fault for getting them into this situation & i have been sat here being sick & crying because of it, i want to help them desparately, and up until a few years ago (6) they had no debts, & were nearly paid their mortage off, i really worry about them & am not sleeping because of it- i have asked mum to ring me later- when her friend has gone so we can try & sort something out
Now im debt free i want to be fat free too!

  • Hi Snaggles

Yes he knows, he has 1 card- (that i know of!) A HSBC one, he pays his by DD so i guess that they are not chasing him as they are being paid (even if it is only minimum) I guess i have to let them have their own LBM (which i thought they'd had already- guess i was wrong eh!) What has brought this on was the fact that we were supposed to going away to Disneyland Paris- found a really good deal- split evenly 3 ways (me, dad & mum & dd who goes free!!) i had managed to save my wages for it & was all for paying it this Friday (when my parents get paid) But i dont want to go if i know they will get into even more debt for this, i dont want that- and i said that to mum last night- she just said i said we will go so we will- she doesnt realise that i dont want them to be in debt because of it!
Now im debt free i want to be fat free too!

Hey HM, does your husband know about this? Is there any way you can explain it to him and get him to help out? i seem to remember he is on a decent salary and saving each month. I know you won't want to rake all of this up again but maybe if he understands that this does all stem from your wedding he might be a bit more understanding... maybe?
