Greetings,
As the new year is here Im starting a new healthier way of eating.
Im look for some equipment to help dice up onions, garlic, carrots, peppers and fruit.
I've seen products from JML (http://www.jmldirect.com/In-The-Kitchen-C1/) such as the super slicer and nicer dicer.
These arent very expensive but the reviews are mixed, quality of blades is mentioned and unless food is very soft then there can be problems.
Can anyone recommend a good slicer/dicer?
I will be using it most nights for low volumes of fruit and veg.
Oh and ideally as the kitchen is small a small slicer would be preferred.
Thanks
Rob

Hi.
I have used these kind of gadgets, slicers, dicers, before and they are all too fiddly, too flimsy, too difficult to use, and impractical.
What you need is a good set of knives, and a sharpener. They will out last any of these JML gadgets and are far more versatile. To start with you may find that until you have good technique, the knives are a bit slower, but after a while you will find they are far quicker to use, last longer, a lot more versatile, easy to clean. Need I go on...
A good set which I have similar to is this...
http://www.cookware.co.uk/shop/Knives/ProCook%AEGourmetMono/d4/sd85
Its in the sale as well, at £35.95 for 5 pieces...
5 Piece Set - Block plus one of each,
3.5" paring knife,
5" vegetable knife,
6" cooks knife,
9" bread knife,
10" carving knife.
With these or similar there is not much you could not chop!
If you need help with knife skills, then try and befriend a chef or cook!0 -
