Is I remove a default from ym account will my points tally go up or remain the same?
Also once removed do my chances of gaining credit improve?
The experian website is not very good

It should go up - having a default is not quite the kiss of death a CCJ is but it's not that far from it. No one really knows how credit scoring works as it's a closely guarded secret, but I will say that the Halifax once marked a default on my account with credit agencies. At that time, I couldn't even get a basic current account. Once it was removed, there was no problem getting a basic account or more.
If you can get it removed, then do so as it will make a huge difference to your ability to get credit - if that's what you want!Almost debt-free, but certainly even with the Banks!0 -
I received this reply from experian earlier...
Dear Mr **********
Thank you for your email, which we received on 15 January 2008.
We keep defaulted accounts on your report for six years from the date of default. This is true whether or not the debt has been fully repaid. Therefore entry C3 will be removed from your report 21/01/2008.
Kind regards
So it sounds like its getting removed FINALLY! Its been there EIGHT years and I've been turned down for a few loans in that time which is quite annoying...and which has as a result probably made my score go down even more. :mad:0
