outlet stores are by far the best place to buy them. I've bought a couple of pairs from Timberland Outlet stores (in the UK and US!) and they are fantastic and cheap!

lists the outlet stores, there are 4 in the UK i think - Cheshire, Swindon, Bicester and Portsmouth

I've always been successful in my purchases at McArthur Glen in York although haven't been there for about 1.5yrs now (live in Scotland and used to drop in when visiting relatives in area who are no longer there) - assuming it is still there!
