Hi Lucy.
Well done on your OH having his LBM and I am sure with you by his side he will get to being DF.
Nothing obvious to me from his SOA but I agree with a couple of points the others have mentioned. Definately worth looking to see if he is entitled to any help or benefits.
I see he does some cleaning as well as his normal job is there any potential to increase this.
Anything to ebay?
Good luck to you both.Proud to be dealing with my debts - DFW No: 712

Thanks guys
There is very little chance of OH getting an evening job and he can't increase the cleaning hrs. Although he is looking for better paid work. Although I did raise something yesterday and I am going to get him to check it out. He earns more per annum than I do, (£22,000 vs £17,000) but even before the council tax has been taken out his take home is less than mine
So we are a going to make sure he is on the right tax code. He has also just filled in a form for the tax office as they think he may have paid to much (here's hoping for a nice tax rebate!!)
I know there are things missing from his SOA and I am going to go through the CCCS budgeting remedy thingy with him and see what the experts say. I will check entitled to, but would guess he is claiming his single person council tax allowance.
He know's it's going to be tough (to say the least) but he can't damage his credit rating any more than it already is. Shopping, I am going to go with him next time and show him how to shop like a student (I did ok when I was at uni) at the moment he has LOADS in the freezer so he is going to eat his way through let and I am already getting him to take packed lunches to work as he really can't afford not to. And he admitted he enjoyed them more
I'll keep you posted, but if there is a furture for us (we had a major row new year's eve and last weekend) this has to be sorted, although as my credit rating is still exellent I'm not going to be financially linking myself to him any time soon!! I hope that doesn't sound harsh.

Hi Lucy,
About the take home pay seeming low - I agree - but could this be because of the council tax he's paying back. Also could he be paying a big whack into his pension fund (varies but many are between 3 - 7% depending on schemes could be more though). Check his pay slips and see if that helps.Mortgage OP 2026 £640/2000Mortgage balance: £32,222

No, you must look out for your own interests - if he wants to be linked to you, he needs to become more compatible with you in financial outlook."Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

I'll look into everything and see what happens, he seems to want to get this sorted although he still has a long way to go. And I mean money and everything else.Current debt - £16,300
