am getting nowhere fast -sorry- will have to work on it tomorrow
laurence sterne was the author
george and john cadbury were the brothers and the last village is Bournville - wrong
Please see Etch's post for the answers. No wonder I couldn't tie St Cuthbert and Sterne in with Bournville - they kept leading me last night to York but I couldn't think straight so please give Etch all the thanks.

The first village is Crayke where the parish church is St Cuthbert's.
The businessman is Joseph Rowntree (the last "village" is New Earswick, north of York).
I agree that Laurence Sterne is the author (he was vicar of Sutton-on-the Forest, 8 miles north of York)

Apologies everyone. Last night I was too tired to think straight. Last Wednesday I had an operation but as I didn't have a general anaesthetic merely a few local ones and it only lasted just under an hour, I never realized it's effect on me. OK I've been taking the antibiotics and painkillers and resting but last night decided to stay up to do the quiz - WRONG. I was so tired I couldn't think straight and when I logged off - I stood up and fell!!
Am OK but have learnt my lesson, sorry peeps I couldn't finish the quiz for you this week but thanks to Etch you have the solution, many thanks once again Etch"Every day when I wake up I thank the Lord I'm Welsh" Cerys Matthews0 -
