some pension advice please.

:confused:Hi just a quick outline of my problem, hoping someone will advice me or give their opinion.
I am 49 year old lady currently on ssp from work due to ill health and have been told by my personnel manager that my company have agreed to give me a full ill health pension.
I will need to see their doctor in 2 years time as I am currently waiting to start new treatment which may or may not mean a big improvement of my condition but will not cure it, as it is progressive.
Now I went to see my manager on Friday and it turns out I will have to see this doctor every 2 years until I reach pension age.
I wont get the cash lump sum due to this proviso.
My question is this, is this normal practice or am I being duped here, should I contact my union rep and ask them whats what.
Sorry that was more than 1 question.
Daisy
