Just thought I would say hi.:hello:

I am sure you'll be able to pick up lots of useful tips and maybe even save some money.

As to what to wear what sort of a do are you having?
As that will affect what you're wearing to some extent or do you have a dress in your head?

Maybe google wedding dresses and have a look at whats about. You should soon find some you think are horrendous - lol!

I was in a panic about a fortnight ago as had been leaving everything until after xmas but am now back on track.

Am sure someone will be able to help

Hi thanks for replying and the advice. I'll try the google wedding dresses. But Im a bit nervous about buying off the internet. Look lovely in the piccies but I would probably look like a sack of potatoes or worse!!!! H2B has been married previously so he has been there and done it all before. Its the first time for me. Im 41 and dont want to end up looking like a fairy off the top of the tree. Plain plain plain will just suit me fine. I still want it to be a special day for both of us. I was happy for it to be very small. But when we went and looked at the 2 rooms at the registrars OH decided he didnt like the look of the small one (holds 40 people) as we would be seeing each other on arrival (and he is old fashioned and wants to see me walk down the length of the room) so he decided on the more expensive room (holds 85 people). We are only talking about 25 guests in total. Wedding is booked for 3pm on the Saturday. We have the room for an hour. Then I am figuring plus an extra hour for piccies outside. So that is approx 5pm. Then what? Im not bothered about a nite time "do". But I havent got a clue where to go afterwards. Dont know of anywhere restaurant wise who would cater that early on. Ohhhh im so confused at the moment my head hurts!!!!! A couple of friends got married in 2006. Both had gorgeous weddings 1 for about £7,000 and the other for about £1,500. If I could take something from both that would be lovely. Decisions decisions decisions. PF

Hi and congratulations! We get married in July and I have spent the past 3 weekends trying on dresses. I thought I knew exactly what I wanted and was all set to order online. I went with a couple of good friends and tried on some dresses and totally changed what I thought I wanted and more importantly, what suited me!
Most of the shops have been friendly and welcoming and I definitely recommend going and trying some dresses on. I didn't realise how heavy they would be, how they can make you look very slim and how totally glamorous they make you feel!

You could always go on to a local pub? My sister had her reception in a very pretty country pub, very relaxed and suited her perfectly.

Good luck! x

I searched online first to get an idea - mainly for price for what I liked. Then went to try some on to see what suited me. I then went back and searched again and am now waiting for my dress to arrive from China and for under £100!

As far as budget goes we decided what was most important to us and then shopped around its surprising what bargains you can pick up. Its second time around for both of us and experience certainly helps.

Is there a local restaurant that would be prepared to open early for you? They can always say no when you ask.

The main things I have found to be expensive are cars, photographers (but I haggled as we are getting married on a Monday), cakes (now decided on M&S to decorate ourselves), flowers (friend is now doing them) and bridesmaid dresses (OH wants all 3 in the same dress so hard to save here).

Have a look on this forum or ask a question someone will be bound to help out.

My mate is getting married in May 2009 and is having two doo's - the wedding in Italy which is down to me to organise:eek: and a party here in the UK for family/friends who can't be in Italy. Yesterday, we met up at the Jinney Ring Craft Centre, nr Hanbury, Worcs - we had some lunch and a wander round plus we met the owner as we wanted to view a room. We saw a lovely room to accommodate 20 people with some outside space where peeps could wander with welcome drinks and canapes, we found out too that we could talk to the chef about our requirements. It was fab to be truthful and the cost was reasonable. In fact, my mate thought it an ideal place because being the practical person that she is, she thought that people could buy wedding presents from the craft shops on site. We told the owner this and she thought it was a super idea - to have a wedding list for guests. I think the Craft Centre has other rooms to rent out for weddings and I think that people can get married in the grounds as well. The craft centre has a website too.

Thought that this might be useful for anyone getting married.:D

What date in September? We're getting married on 27th. We're having an early ceremony followed by a wedding breakfast and then and evening reception. Costing us an arm and a leg really but it's the first (and only!) time for both of us and its what we both want. If you've got a party of 25 then it's worth ringing round local restaurants and seeing if they would open early for you, you might be surprised, another option is a pub, a lot of them are open to food orders all day and around teatime is usually quiet o it would feel like you have the place to yourselves..

I'd definately recommend trying wedding dresses on to see what style suits you best before you commit to buying one (I've had a bit of a try on but want to lose some serious weight so not looking again until March lol) My friend just bought her dress from eBay but the seller let her go down and try it on before she bought it so it's always worth an ask.
A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...
Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

• Hi Horace if you want to organise the wedding in Italy easily you could contact my wedding planner, Pia on info@invitoscana.it We are getting married in a castle in Tuscany this Sept and she has been incredible and makes it all so easy! There are lots of affordable options for everything from photogaphers to caterers and the venues available are amazing and a lot cheaper than the UK. Good lukc!!!
