Annuity advice please!

My husband plans to retire at the end of the year. I have heard about annuities but I'm not sure how they work. Do you convert your pension to an annuity and if so is it a good idea to? We have until December to make all the right financial decisions and don't want to screw up!!!! Many thanks in advance ;)

This site has a lot of info about retirement options

You can look at annuity rates here:

    Trying to keep it simple...;)

You want to start looking at the open market option and annuity purchase about 3 months beforehand. Getting the info and comparing options and then sorting out the paperwork can be slow.

The annuity rates posted on various sites, including the FSAs, are usually snapshots and cannot be relied upon for accuracy.
