advise on a verrucas

my two kids 8 and 6 have verrucas, we take them swimming a lot, so much so they have both reached a very high level. we don't want to stop taking them as its now getting to the stage where they need to keep up with their stamina training. anyway, can anyone recommend a good verruca treatment. the lotion we have is very painful for them and we are finding it hard to administer this treatment. our doctor has said to use duct tape! no one knows why yet, but it seems to work, has anyone tried this or has someone got a better idea. any advise is always appreciated thanks in advance. chris.
ps when i was at school if you had a verruca you were not allowed to swim, however, these days, if you take the appropriate precautions ie foot sock, you can still swim, this we do.

The most effective (and gentlest/pain free) method I have found of getting rid of verrucas is as follows:
Soak feet in warm salt bath for 15 minutes (this softens the skin)
Dry feet and file down the verruca area with a pumice stone
Apply two drops each of the following essential oils: tea-tree and patchoulli
Cover with plaster.
Do this once a day, twice if you can manage it time-wise (am and pm). The essential oils are anit-viral and anti-fungal and work together to zap the verruca. After a couple of days you will notice the skin on and around the verruca getting much softer and flakier, and more of the verruca area will be worn away by rubbinmg with the pumice stone. Eventually the verruca will fall out or you can tease it out with tweezers.
All other methods I have found very hit and miss and painful! This is the only thing which has worked for me every time. Search this board and you will find duct tape mentioned before along with banana skins taped on and yes, the tea tree oil.
I think the duct tape starves the verucca of oxygen and moisture, but I could be quite wrong about that ... banana skin would do the same and might 'eat' it at the same time.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
I can vouch for the tea tree oil treatment! DD had dozens of veruccas and they were noticably smaller in days. Totally gone in about 10 days."Cheap", "Fast", "Right" -- pick two.0

Luckily I've never had one myself, but I understand a dab of nail polish does the trick:wave:0

A few years back my DD had a run of having them!!!
We tried that Bazooka stuff amongst others with no success. Always ended in a struggle and little one hurting etc.
Then we found scholl plasters for verrucas......They are fantastic!
It was literally days and they were gone....You just stick them where needed.
I would certainly recommend them.
Good luck,
Cathy

Yep I used a combination of tea tree oil and lemon oil - Both Tisserand brand. Dabbed on with a cotton bud after lots of filing and it worked a treat.
I did this on advice from the hospital podiatrist that I managed to get reffered to because I am a nurse - there are some perks
