Which size food processor/Magimix help

Options
I've ebayed enough stuff since Christmas to give me the cash to buy a Magimix! :j Thing is, I'm not sure whether to go for the 3200 or the 4200. There are 2 grown ups and 3 small people in my family.
Any help/advice much appreciated.
I think I want a Magimix because everyone tells me they are the best so I'm hoping this will be an investment.
Thank you in advance!

    Hiya
I know nothing about Magixmixers, I've got a moulinex food processor, but I would say when buying mixers, to get the biggest you can afford/have space for. It means you can double up when cooking meals so you can put one in the freezer.
I doubled up a bean burger recipe the other day and my mixer wasn't big enough for it all, I have the same problem when making a lot of pastry.

I think I would go with the biggest/most powerful one you can afford as I think they come with smaller inset bowls anyway so you don't always have to use the bigger one if you're only doing a small job, but at least you have the big bowl too when needed.

  • I've got the 4200xl and there are just the two of us - I haven't regreted buying it for a single min. Its such a help I make everything from bread (+breadcrumbs), yesterday my first attempt at flaky pastry (really good). I think too buy the best you can, it is an investment.

    Thanks everyone.
Mouseymousey 99 - is it easy to clean and set up? Do you keep it out on your kitchen counter?
    What's it like for cakes?
  • Yes I have it on the counter, I always wash up by hand (no dishwasher) and its fine - you get a box of cutters and things with it - I keep the box with the bits in in the cupboard. (its roughly the size of an on end shoe box) I've made lots of cakes, the twiddly bit you get is proffesional quality and the cutters are sabouterur (sus spelling) you do need to watch your fingers when you wash up. My baking is far better than when I used to bake by hand.
Setting up was a doddle, and the book is very good. By the way - I found the cheapest was John Lewis who also delv'd it for free - cheaper than e bay which suprised me! It weighs a ton - & it comes with 12yr motor guarantee.
