the message goes to the administrator of the board, if i remember rightly you have to give a reason why they should let you join freecycle. As long as its not 'to get free stuff to sell on'. I think they let you join! :)

Yep, i moderate our local group. As linda says, as long as you don't say "I just wanna get as much free stuff as possible" you will be ok.

Once you've registered and your moderator approved you, you can see all the other messages. Its worth putting yourself on special notice to start with or be bombarded with e-mails! A busy one like my old Manchester one, you could get nearly 500 messages in a day.

I moderate our group. Membership approval should be the same day if your Mod is on the ball. Write just a message that you wish to join thats all.

The messages for the board ie wants/offers, are moderated to stop undesirable material and offensive posts. I usually get all in my Pending tray posted within half an hour to an hour of the request.

Have a good time on Freecycle....the more the merrier !

Go easy on them, its just hard working volunteers doing their best that keep it running. Might be worth checking your junkmail folder, one one of the groups I moderate we ask people to reply to a welcome email before we approve their membership. Real new freecyclers happliy do so, the automated spamming systems don't!

Can I just say, I love freecycle! I actually check my emails a million times a day and i have successfully decluttered my house and got some useful stuff from others. Its a brilliant idea and I feel I am doing my little bit for the environment!
