Faulty xmas present...

We bought our daughter a sing-along microphone set but the machine seems to be ruining the tapes, we have tried all different types and brands but still the same result.
I have my receipt but is it too late to take it back, we bought it at the start of December
Thanks

  • If its faulty you have 12 months to take it back although the store may insist on an exchange rather than a refund after 30 days.

  • You might wanna argue your case assuming you don't want a repair/replacement, that it was only opened around christmas time and any fault would not have come to light until then so technically you're within the 30 day limit; depends how you phrase it, they should do it out of seasonal goodwill if not anything else!...they may then give you a refund, but credit voucher rather than cash
  • You have your receipt, the item is faulty, I see no problem in getting a refund, I'd refund you if I served you... christmas present or not! If you paid cash you'll get cash back, if you paid by debit/credit card it'd be put back on your card.

I too if the item were faulty give you a full refund for the item, Argos don't expect you to keep a faulty item.

So take it back with your receipt and get your cash back.
If you really want to bite the bullet, just write on the top of the receipt "xmas pres" and you will override the 30 day warranty.

So how long do you have?
After 13 months would you have had your moneys worth?
I would expect (even a cheap tape machine) to last longer than 12 months.
