Debt-free Wannabe

Good morning all.

I thought it would help me if I keep a record of what I'm spending every day.

That way I can have a look at the end of the month and see really and truly where it's all adding up. If it works for Weightwatchers, it can work for Debtwatchers ;)

I'm also going to give myself a kick up the bum or a pat on the back for the things I've done each day...

Wednesday 16 Jan - took a flask of coffee & my brekkie on the train to work so didn't treat myself to shop-bought :D pat, pat. Stayed home in the evening so no spends there - let the heating go off and snuggled under a blanket. No spend day :D

Thursday 17 Jan - Brought brekkie to work. Now, this is the spending bit, BUT, I got bargains - hear me out! I had my legs and underarms waxed and a facial for £14 at the beauty training college. Then I went and had my, ahem, bikini line done at a proper salon for £10. I can't quite brave the students doing that! Had evening meal out with work - free, hurray! Cycled everywhere so no travel costs. I went to my charity group and gave them £2.50 (not something I can give up).

Friday 18 Jan -more tasty muesli at work. Brought coffee too. Cycling everywhere today as well, apart from to pick up OH at the airport later. No spend day :D

So, I'm feeling all inspired and virtuous, but it's been a good week MSE-wise. The weekend should be good too. I'm making two birthday cards out of old xmas cards (my plan for all the birthdays this year) and going to a friends for dinner.

Have a lovely weekend MSErs

  • Good luck, if you can keep it up you'll be debt free in no time!
  • Thanks everyone!

Not quite a no spend day after all...

Paid £100 on BoS credit card today - paid over minimum payment. Can't wait til the balance transfer onto my new Virgin 0% card

And paid £41.25 towards Mum's 60th birthday present. Us kids are going all out this year, which is fair enough I feel. She did get a handmade card, and local flowers, not daft expensive ones.

  • Saturday 19 January - £1.50 water and rizlas (for OH) from newsagent

Sunday 20 January - £25 dinner with friends at restaurant (not often)

Getting a new water filter as a belated xmas pressie, so I won't be buying any more bottled water. I know I should drink tap, but I hate the taste. Normally fill up bottles from the bubbler at work...;)

Today - £2 (?) petrol taking OH to train station.

    weekend & today: £28.50 :o

Charging my phone at work means a bit less on the leccy at home. Although our stupid landlord's have failed to fix our heating, meaning we're using an electric heater  . Need to make all the savings we can on the bill cos of that one.

Will keep an eye on my transfers to 0% card. And check my old insurance has cancelled...

  • £4.99 LoveFilm subscription. Humming and deciding about whether to keep this one. It does keep me out of the pricey flicks, but should I just stick to getting DVDs from the library

£312.50 rent. Nothing I can do about this one. That's the price! Saving up to buy a place with OH. Should be ok by November...

£6.25 Bodyflik. Like a squeedgy thing. It removes excess water off your skin so you use (and launder) your towels less. Good for swimming too.

Going to a birthday party tonight. Made his card (free) and I'll get a charity shop or £1 shop pressie. He's 6, so likes that sort o' thing £5

    £328.74

Could have not spent the £4.99 on LoveFilm. Bodyflik is one-off purchase that will hopefully save ££

  • Co-op credit card has transferred today  !

I called them immediately and cancelled, then cut up the card.

Cheeky b*ggers asked if I wanted a top up on my loan  . How dare they! It's no wonder people get into difficulty. I'm glad I'm in a position to say no. While thinking "scr*w you" VERY LOUDLY.
