Help with getting a good credit rating

My friends really struggling with her credit rating.
She has in the past been late for mortgage payments, and other bills, but not had any CCJs etc.
She is now making sure she pays all her bills on time, but is struggling to get even a mobile phone contract.
She has tried getting high interest rate credit cards (I thought if she got these and paid the balance in full every month it may increase her credit score, but she cant even get one).
Ive no experience in this, but if anyone has any tips for her to increase her credit score, so she can even just get a contract mobile, then it would be most appreciated
Thanks

She needs to check her credit rating to make sure it is up to date and accurate. There are details on this board on how to go about doing so.

this is in the Bankruptcy section but still applies. She should ensure everytihng is accurate and nothing is marked as a default if payments are up to date (they should be marked satisfied I believe)matched betting: £879.63
